LAHORE, Sept 27: With a facile victory on her debut, the three-year-old filly Twinky will be on the trot to make it a two-in-a-row when the 4th Lahore Winter Meeting gets underway at the Racecourse on Sunday.

She is contesting in the Muhammad Tughlaq Cup, a class five, division two handicap race to be gone over 1,100 metres.

Owned by Mian Maahir Ahmad and trained by Abdul Easheed, the filly from Bedouin Invader had registered an impressive victory in the over 900 metres race last Sunday. She has now been promoted to an upper class with the distance of the race increased by 200 metres.

It is expected of her to return home triumphantly keeping in view her fine performance on debut. Of her 11 rivals, her stable-mate Tinker Bell, Nishat Malook and Royal Gesture look good to fight for places.

In the feature event, the Mohammad Tughlaq Cup class V division I, three-year-old colt Punjabi is the outstanding performer over the sprinting distance to have the better of his nine opponents.

The colt from Bedouin Invader out-of-Fantastic Cute, Punjabi, had a fine record of performing a hat-trick of victories and is still on the course for further consolidation of his bloodline potential.

However, this time he will be up for a strong challenge from the chestnut horse, Harry Can View and the colt Shock Wave.

The star filly Velocity, who has an unbeaten record of four wins in as many starts, will be gong all out to stretch her winning streak to five in a row.

A chestnut daughter of Vitellozzi out-of-Gambling Princess, Velocity has already achieved a rare feat and may face some challenge from Cut Throat and Tuba First.

There are 10 runners in the Minchanabad Plate, class IV, division I & II to be contested over the 1,200 metres distance. This will be the sixth and last race of the day.

Geo Super, Sapna and Rough Tough attract attention on recent form and performances in the third race, over 1,000 metres. They should fight for picking up the spoils. Geo Super seems having an edge over the others.

The three-year-old bay colt Megabite is a cut above in class vis-à-vis his 10 opponents drawn for the second race. The class VI, division II handicap race is to go over 1,000 metres. Royal Storm, Aaja Bulbul and Amazing Mission should fight for places.

Hermatic, First Passion, Basant Mayla and Fakhr-e-Sialkot are the pick of 13 listed for the first race, the Chakwal Plate, class VI, division III over 1,000 metres.

By virtue of his pedigree and last season’s win Hermatic is being fancied to win while the others should be in for a clash of places.

Three races will be held over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres -- two over 1,100 metres and one over 1,200 metres.

The first race is scheduled for 2.00pm.
