Six deer stolen from Jallo Park

Published September 29, 2008

LAHORE, Sept 28: Six deer were stolen from Jallo Park early on Sunday.

The park administration suspended three watchmen from service for their alleged involvement and handed them over to Batapur police.

Wildlife Assistant Director (Breeding Farm) Muhammad Anwar stated in the first information report that he was informed by watchman Ashraf at around 3am that six deer were missing from a cage whose lock was found broken and grill cut.

The administration suspected involvement of Ashraf and watchmen Fareed Shah and Humayun Akhtar into the theft.

Police said one of the deer was later caught in nearby fields.

A police official suspected that without the involvement of any official of the department it was not possible for thieves to take away the deer.
