KARACHI, Sept 30: The Sindh government has set up a library in Clifton for the parties interested in making investment in the Thar coal energy project.

This was stated by Adviser to the Chief Minister on Mines and Minerals Dr Khattu Mal Jeevan while talking to newsmen on Tuesday. He said informative literature like survey reports, studies, feasibility reports, etc were available in the library for the benefit of both national and foreign firms/groups having interest in the project. He said investors had started visiting the library.

Dr Jeevan said that preparation of reports on Thar coal would have required a huge amount of money and a three-year time period but the establishment of this library might save the money and time as investors could go through the literature made available to them in the library.

The minister was of the view that the Thar coal energy project could bring about an economic revolution in the country in the next five years since no other source could generate electricity cheaper than the coal-powered plants. He said the government had resolved the major problems, like the power tariff issue, in materialising the project.—PPI
