LAHORE, Oct 19: Tehrik-i-Insaaf chairman Imran Khan has offered the government that he will persuade expatriate Pakistanis to transfer their capital to their homeland provided the president, the prime minister, cabinet members and all parliamentarians and political leaders bring back their wealth from abroad.

He was speaking at a ceremony in Baghbanpura where veteran Leaguer Mian Merajuddin’s son Hamid Meraj announced his joining of the Tehrik-i-Insaaf here on Sunday.

Regretting that judiciary in the country had always been the B team of the executive, he alleged that the incumbent judges were continuing the practice.

Seeing future of the country tied with that of an independent judiciary and rule of law, the cricketer-turned-politician said none of the rulers here ever allowed independence to the judges and misused their authority resulting in decline in all sectors.

He lamented that Gen Pervez Musharraf exonerated Asif Zardari from charges of corruption and the latter reciprocated by alleging that the former had misappropriated $50 billion from the funds given by the US for war on terror and then absolving him of the charge without taking any legal action against the former army ruler.

He said had there been an independent judiciary, both the leaders could have been sued for devouring the public money.

Khan deplored that the PPP which had been supporting other parties in the struggle for independence of judiciary retreated from its stance after coming into power.
