ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: Pakistan’s Shahzad Khan qualified for the main round by defeating Vikram B. Reddy of India in straight sets in the qualifying round of the ITF Pakistan Futures (F2) tennis tournament at the PTF Tennis Complex on Sunday.
Six Pakistan players, Aqeel Khan, Shahzad Khan, Asim Shafik, Jibran Mohammadi, Yasir Khan and Jaleel Khan, will be seen in action against top foreign players in the main round of the tournament.
Fourth-seed Aqeel will face a tough challenge when he faces Adrian Sikora of Slovakia, the runner-up of the Pakistan Futures International tennis championship, in his opening match.
Meanwhile, Sang-Gyun Kim of Korea created an upset of the day when he defeated second seed India’s Rohan Gide 7-5, 7-6(3).
