BALI (Indonesia), Oct 25: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah said his organisation would provide adequate financial assistance to Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) under its “Project Olympic Asia” programme for creation of sports infrastructure.

“We have launched the programme for developing countries of Asia for the creation of sports infrastructure and Pakistan will be provided with financial assistance of US$100,000 to 200,000,” he said here on Friday.

He said the OCA was earlier funding 20 such projects a year and but had decided to extend the number to 40.

Appreciating Pakistan’s achievements in the field of cricket, hockey, squash and snooker, the OCA chief said Pakistan had plenty of sports talent.

He added that an OCA Sports Academy will be launched in Kuwait in March to groom players.—APP
