ISLAMABAD, Oct 28: A German trade delegation currently visiting Pakistan has shown keen interest in investment, especially in small and medium enterprises.
Head of directorate general for Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development at Federal Foreign Office, Berlin, Von Fritch said this while talking to the officials of the Board of Investment and representatives from the private sector at the BOI office here on Tuesday.
He along with Jeroen Haberland, CEO Johanna Solar Technologies and Prof Detlef Prinz called on secretary BOI.
Von Fritch appreciated the efforts of BOI for arranging and coordinating their visit. He further added that he was very happy to see some German brands operating successfully in Pakistan. He promised to encourage more German investment in Pakistan with special focus on SME sector.
Earlier, they were given a detailed presentation by Dr Raania Ahsan, the director general, Europe, on investment climate, incentives and opportunities for investors.
Secretary BOI welcomed the delegates and said that Germany had been an important partner in supporting the Pakistan economy.
He commended the German government for undertaking collaborative efforts to meet the challenges of the ongoing world economic and financial crises. He also lauded the efforts of Pakistan German Business Forum in promoting confidence of eminent German companies in the local economy.
The German delegates enquired about the business potential and returns on investment from Pakistan.
The representatives of German companies -- Metro Cash & Carry, Mercedes Benz, Pesco Group, Alno A G. Kitchens, National Book Foundation, Deutsche Bank, KSB Pumps Co. Ltd and Siemens Corporation termed their business ventures as very profitable in Pakistan.
