SHIKARPUR, Nov 2: An elderly woman was kidnapped by four people on Saturday evening from a Kandhkot-bound wagon.

Ms Alam Khatoon 60, wife of Ghous Bux Sanjrani was wearing gold ornaments. She was about to leave for Kandhkot after visiting her relatives in Shikarpur.

Four people forcibly pushed her out of the wagon and whisked her away in their car.

Meanwhile, a teenage boy, Badal Khan, resident of Mastong (Balochistan) was killed when bandits opened fire on a trailer on Shikar-pur–Jacobabad road in Sultankot area on Sunday.

The trailer was on its way from Jacobabad to Shikarpur when the bandits opened fire, killing the son of the trailer driver identified as Badal.

The bandits looted cash and mobile sets from the trailer driver and his (second) assistant driver.

The trailer, truck drivers and other transporters staged a demonstration and blocked Shikarpur–Jacobabad, Kandhkot and Larkana roads and burnt tyres to protest the incident.

President of Transporters Association Jacobabad, Ghulam Rasool Brohi, General Secretary of Transporters Association Shahdadkot Abdul Jabbar Khoso and other transporters said the tribal chieftains and police were sheltering the criminals.

The protesters further said that neither police cooperated for sending victims to hospital nor took any pain to trace out the culprits.

The demonstration ended and the road was cleared for vehicular traffic after seven hours on the assurance extended by the Shikarpur DPO Khadim Hussain Rind that the culprits would be arrested within 24 hours.

In another incident a shopkeeper Mohammad Panah Jeho was shot dead by three armed men when he was opening his grocery shop at Shahi Bazaar in Garhi Yasin on Sunday.

The motive behind the murder is said to be the ongoing dispute over a theft between the Jeha and Shar tribes in Garhi Yasin taluka.

The relatives of the deceased staged a demonstration and blocked the Garhi Yasin–Ratodero road near Khirthar Canal bridge to protest against the incident by keeping the body on the road.

The protesters demanded the transfer of the Garhi Yasin supervising police officer, alleging that he was sheltering the criminals of Shar tribe.

The road was reopened for vehicular traffic by the police after two hours.
