Punjab score 400

LAHORE, Nov 7: Despite suffering a batting collapse, Punjab still managed to reach an impressive total in their first innings against Sindh on the second day of the RBS Pentangular Cup match here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

After resuming at their overnight total of 245 for one, Punjab moved to 308 for three, but lost their next six wickets for just 92 runs, finally declaring at 400 for nine.

By the close of play, Sindh had made 43-1 as they lost Asif Zakir (18) who was caught by wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider off Imran Ali.

For Punjab, once their centurion Azhar Ali, after adding 26 runs to his overnight 109 runs was caught by Asif Zakir off Tanvir Ahmed for 135 and his partner Umar Akmal added just nine run to be dismissed for 52, the batting collapse occurred.

Only Khurram Shahzad (41) was the key scorer.

Azhar struck 19 fours and a six while facing 273 balls. Umar hit nine boundaries. They added 124 runs for the second wicket.

For Sindh Sohail Khan and Azam Hussain picked up three wickets each but conceded 118 and 100 runs respectively.
