KARACHI, Nov 8: The Pakistan cricket squad is due to leave for Abu Dhabi on Sunday for the three-match One-day International series against the West Indies starting with the opening match on Nov 12.
The series, though not the toughest, will be yet another test for Pakistan led by Shoaib Malik with Misbah-ul-Haq as his deputy.
Pakistan will be playing this important series under the new coach Intikhab Alam with Yawar Saeed as the manager.
With their premier middle-order batsman Mohammad Yousuf banned from representing his country by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after abruptly joining the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), Malik’s party may need a bit more concentration than is usually required against a team of the class of West Indies.
Khalid Latif has been picked in place of Yousuf.
All matches of the series will be day-night affairs at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
Squad: Salman Butt, Nasir Jamshed, Khalid Latif, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik (captain), Shahid Afridi, Fawad Alam, Kamran Akmal (wicket-keeper), Sohail Tanvir, Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Rao Iftikhar, Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rauf.—APP
