Three killed in Yemen bus blast

Published November 28, 2008

SANAA, Nov 27: Three people were killed and four wounded on Thursday when a bomb ripped through a minibus at a central bus station in Sanaa, a police official said.

“A bomb exploded on a minibus, killing three people and wounding four among the passengers,” the official said requesting anonymity.

The explosion took place at al-Hasba bus station.

The official said police was investigating whether the bomb was a terrorist attack or motivated by tribal vengeance.

Tribal traditions prevail in the impoverished southern Arabian peninsula country, which has also seen several attacks by Al Qaeda, including the October 2000 suicide bombing of the destroyer USS Cole off the southern port Aden that killed 17 American sailors.—AFP
