KHAR, Dec 2: Security forces claimed killing six militants in attacks on their hideouts in Khar and Mamond tehsils of Bajaur on Tuesday.

According to sources, troops backed by helicopter gunships and tanks carried out attacks in Baichena, Bandai, Kawsar and Dherai and other areas of the two tehsils with cannon and artillery.

The sources said the troops acted after their positions in the area had come under attack.

The forces also pounded bunkers on the mountains of Baichena and, according to sources, the shelling caused a forest fire.

Meanwhile, a group of gunmen stormed a camp of Levies force and held four personnel hostage for some time.
