MUZAFFARGARH, Dec 4: Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, the son of the late Nawabzada Nasarullah Khan, along with Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) MPA Imran Qureshi and Muzaffargarh Tehsil Nazim Sardar Abad Dogar called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday at Raiwind and announced his decision to join the PML-N.
The son of Nawab had last year on Feb 23 joined the PML-Q and was made senior vice president. In the 2008 elections, he contested the election against his elder brother Nawabzada Mansoor Khan and Jamshed Dasti and stood runner-up while Mr Dasti won the election.
Mr Iftikhar said his decision to join the PML-N would strengthen the party in the district, which is believed to be a stronghold of the Pakistan People’s Party. His supporters are now removing the banners and billboards of Nawab Iftikhar in which he along with Pervaiz Elahi is smiling.
Local people criticised the decision of Nawabzada to ditch the PML-Q. They say his father was famous for his commitments.
At the decision of Mian Nawaz Sharif to accept Iftikhar in the party, Nawabzada Mansoor is not happy. He said Nawaz Sharif should see the political character of the people before inducting them in his party. He said it was unfortunate that his brother was changing parties so rapidly. Instead he should stay in one party and learn to do politics of principles and not politic of development schemes.
