NAWABSHAH, Dec 12: Crackdown against activists of the Jamaatud Dawa and other banned outfits continued in Sindh on Friday where around 25 Dawa activists were arrested and five of its offices, two schools, three madressahs and one dispensary were sealed.

In Nawabshah, police arrested 25 persons and sealed Jamaatud Dawa offices on late Thursday night. According to details, police led by SPO Aijaz Tareen raided different places and arrested 17 persons. Police also sealed two offices and one dispensary.

In Sakrand, police sealed one school and one dispensary being run by Jamaatud Dawa and arrested eight persons including Bashir Mughal and Munawar Mughal.

According to a press release issued by Ahl-i-Sunnat Wal-Jamaat, police raided the house of its district president, Mohammad Jafar Azad, and took away two cellphones and cash. Police in a raid at the house of Hafiz Hanif arrested his two brothers, Hafiz Mohammad Khan, and Allah Bux, and also two guests Mohammad Sabir and Noor Hassan.

The press release claimed that Qari Asjad Madani and his son Rashid were arrested from Jamia Masjid railway Kabeer.

In Tando Mohammad Khan, a heavy contingent of police raided a model school of Jamatud Dawa on station road on Friday morning and sealed the school. According to sources, the action was taken under instructions from the Sindh Home Department. However, no arrests were made as the leaders of the Jamaatud Dawa went underground. Reports said that about 300 students were studying in the model school.

In Badin, police raided offices and madressahs of Jamaatud Dawa and sealed them. DPO Fida Hussain Mastoi told Dawn that two offices of the organisation located in Badin and Golarchi and madressahs in Badin, Matli and Golarchi had been sealed.

In Mirpurkhas, an office of the Jamaatud Dawa was sealed at Mir Ka Plot on Thursday night. Mukhtiarkar Mir Khan Khaskheli along with a police contingent conducted a raid at the office of the Jamaatud Dawa and sealed it. No arrest was reported till the filing of this report.
