KARACHI, Dec 16: An all-parties conference, held under the auspices of the Jamaat-i-Islami on Tuesday, called upon the government to take strict notice of Indian plans and to take the necessary action to unite the nation against any Indian designs. The government was also urged to respond duly to any allegations from across the border.

The APC, which was presided over by JI deputy chief Prof Ghafoor Ahmad and attended by about a dozen parties, made this demand through a resolution adopted on the occasion.

The resolution went on to demand that the ban on “patriotic” organisations be lifted immediately, and highlighted the need for using diplomatic resources to expose Indian conspiracies against Pakistan to the world. The government was called upon to safeguard the nation’s prestige and honour.

Condemning the Mumbai attacks, the resolution noted that Indian allegations against Pakistan, made before any investigations were launched, were proof of enmity against the country. The political leaders present accused India of spreading negative propaganda about Pakistan without first providing proof of involvement on the part of any Pakistani.

The resolution termed the Mumbai attacks, the ethnic violence in Karachi and the violation of Pakistani airspace an attempt to lay siege to Pakistan.

Further, the sealing of the Al-Rashid Trust, Al-Akhtar Trust and Al-Amin Trust’s offices was criticised, and the banning of Jamaat Al-Dawa was termed an endorsement of India’s stand. The resolution stated: “The cowardly policies of our rules have resulted in our national prestige being hurt.”

The APC also declared that citizens of Karachi were always awake to any Indian conspiracy, and prepared to defend Pakistan.
