KARACHI: Muttahida worker shot dead

KARACHI, Dec 17: Three people, including a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, were killed on Wednesday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, police and witnesses said.

The Surjani police said that a 30-year-old man was killed when two attackers opened fire on him near KDA flats and fled the scene. They said that the victim, Ghulam Mohammed Sharif, died instantly.

The police said that the attackers were chased by a policeman who opened fire on the fleeing attackers.

They said that both the attackers were wounded, one of them fatally, in the firing.

The police said the wounded suspects, Mohammed Islam and Raheel, were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital where Raheel died.

They said that the victim belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, while the suspects belonged to the PPP youth wing.

No case was registered till late.

Body found

The body of a young man was found shot dead near Chuna Depot in Liaquatabad in the morning.

The Super Market police said that the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem examination.

They said the man was shot in the head.

They said that the victim remained unidentified and the body was kept at the Edhi morgue.
