SAHIWAL, Dec 21: The police have booked at least 24 people in different localities for violating ‘one dish’ rule at marriage ceremonies in last three days.

DPO Tariq Abbas directed city ASP Junaid to strictly monitor and ensure the implementation of ‘one dish’ rule on which police held meetings with marriage hall owners and told them to implement the rule on their premises.

The Fateh Sher police later launched an operation against violators and arrested 13 people including Ali Raza from Gulshan Colony, Riaz from Mohalla Gujar Hata and Muhammad Mahmood from Tariq Bin Zayad Colony.

The city police arrested Farooq Hayder from Ansar Road, Muhammad Aslem from Railway Road and Mahmood Ahmed from Hata Badiyain.

The Ghala Mandi police arrested Irfan Ahmed and Ali Imran from Pakpattan Chowk.

The Chichawatni city police arrested Sultan Ali from Ward No 2, Abdul Ghafoor from Housing Society, Anyatullah from Three Marla Scheme, Yasir Hussain from Shakir Colony and Riaz Ahmed from Chak No 14/6-L.

Similarly, the Farid Town police arrested two persons Muhammad Ashraf and Muhammad Ramzan for exhibiting fireworks and explosives, including ‘Rasi Bomb’, during a marriage ceremony.

The city police arrested Naveed and Shahzad from Pakpattan Bazaar, Shakeel and Afzal from Depalpur Bazaar, Ali Imran and another from Pakpattan Chowk and Muhammad Sharif from Chak 86/6-R for exhibiting fireworks and explosives.

Cattle lifted: Eight cattle lifters stormed the outhouse of a landlord in Chak 81/6-R in Noor Shah police precincts on Saturday night and took away cattle worth Rs500,000.

The robbers took Muhammad Tariq’s servants Muhammad Ali, Liaqat Ali and Ghafar on gunpoint and detained them in a room. Later, the robbers loaded three buffalos, three cows and four goats on a truck and fled.
