Musharraf’s trial ruled out

Published December 23, 2008

ISLAMABAD, Dec 22: The ministry of interior has denied a claim made by Talal Bugti, chief of the Jamhoori Watan Party, that adviser Rehman Malik had assured him that former president Pervez Musharraf would be tried over the assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

In a clarification to a report published in Dawn in its Monday edition, “Musharraf’s trial promised in Nawab Bugti case, claims Talal”, the ministry said: “No discussions were held on this matter during the meeting between Adviser on Interior Rehman Malik and Talal Bugti.”

Regarding the JWP chief’s call for “stopping the military operation in Dera Bugti and Kohlu”, the ministry said no operation was being carried out in any part of Balochistan.—APP
