UPPER DIR, Dec 24: The federal government has conducted a survey in the district for the construction of powerhouses and identified three sites for the purpose but their feasibility reports will be prepared at a later stage.

A joint survey team of National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) and Wapda inspected several sites in the district.

Members of the team said that they identified Mochi Mor in Darora and two sites in Chukiatan for constructing powerhouses.

They, however, said that the feasibility report would be prepared at a later stage and would be sent to the federal government.

They said that they had ensured to identify those places where the construction of powerhouses would not have damaging effect for the local population and get the maximum benefit out of it.

They said the powerhouses on the one hand would generate electricity at local level and on the other hand it would provide water for irrigation purpose.
