MINGORA, Jan 17: The building of a government-run girls’ school and a police post were blown up in Swat early on Saturday.

Unidentified people planted the explosive device in the school building at Qamber on the outskirts of Mingora which went off with a big bang, destroying the building completely.

An abandoned police post was blown up in Odigram area of Swat.

Twelve militants and two security forces were killed in a clash in Chamtali area of Charbagh on Friday night, says a Swat Media Centre press release.

Quoting a military spokesman, the release said that militants had attacked a base of security forces in the area which was repulsed.

Meanwhile, all government offices, district courts and banks remained closed in Mingora for the last two days because of rumours of suicide attacks.
