ATTOCK, Jan 20: Lawyers and civil society members at a rally on Tuesday condemned the Israeli’s carnage of Palestinian in Ghaza strip and termed it barbaric and inhumane.

The protestors were carrying banners and placards engraved with anti-Israel and anti-America slogans.

They took out the rally from the district bar and reached at the Fowarah Chowk after passing through Katchery Chowk.

Addressing the rally, Supreme Court Bar Association Finance Secretary Advocate Sheikh Ahsanuddin, District Bar Association (DBA) President Advocate Sardar Imtiaz, former DBA President Rana Afsar Ali khan and General Secretary Advocate Malik Israr called upon the Muslim fraternity to forge unity against the brutalities of Israel and bring justice to the people of Palestine.

They criticised the ‘intended silence’ of Muslim leaders in the wake of the attacks against Palestinians.

They demanded the United Nations to resolve the long-lasting Israel-Palestine conflict if it wanted to restore its image “as a body hijacked by the United States and some other global powers.”

They also criticised the government for awarding medals and awards to the US officials despite their support to Israel.

Sacked SI reinstated

The regional police headquarters has reinstated former in-charge police post Jarikus, Hasanabdal, sub-inspector Mohammad Riaz three months after his dismissal on corruption charges by the district police officer Attock, police sources said.

The reinstatement order said the charges of corruption against the sacked SI in a wheat flour smuggling case could not be proved in the re-inquiry conducted by a senior police office on the appeal of the SI. However, he was found negligent in controlling wheat flour smuggling from NWFP to Punjab through Jarikus police post on Hazra road, sources maintained. As a result, his one-year increment was stopped.

Following the reinstatement, the SI was posted at the model Attock city police station.
