MIRPURKHAS, Jan 24: The district level committees have been formed for smooth distribution of fertiliser among farmers. The step was taken by the Sindh Agriculture Minister Syed Ali Nawaz Shah for helping farmers in achieving the wheat crop target. Talking to journalists at his residence on Friday, he said that the fertiliser was hit by black marketing.

The minister said that the government had imported the stuff in huge quantity to overcome the shortfall while committees comprising EDOs revenue and agriculture, DCO, MNA, MPA and notables would supervise fertiliser distribution as per the lists provided by Muktiarkar.

The department had achieved grow-more-wheat target he said adding that the government enhanced the support price to Rs950 per maund for encouraging farmers who initially were reluctant to grow wheat again because of low prices. He was hopeful of cultivating a bumper wheat crop.

Some 50 per cent youths out of the total 5,000 had been provided job training under the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Programme while the rest, after next month, he said.
