KARACHI, Jan 27: Tuwairqi Steel Mills has completed construction of a 107-meter high reduction furnace tower at Bin Qasim near Karachi, says a press release.
The furnace tower technology employs the most advance Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) technology of the Midrex process owned by KOBE Steel of Japan.
Phase-1 of the project constitutes a DRI plant with the capacity to produce 1.28 million tons of steel per annum and is targeted for completion in the second quarter of 2009.
