KARACHI, Jan 31: Holders Punjab University mustered 222 points to retain the title of Inter-university girls’ athletics championship which concluded at the Karachi University track on Saturday.

GCU Faisalabad finished runner-up with a tally of 163 points while hosts Karachi University was placed third with 70 points.

Madiha Latif of the Punjab University who won three events on the opening day continued her winning ways adding as many to her tally besides 4 x 100 metres relay to earn ‘best athlete’ award.

Madiha who won the 200 metres the other day completed sprint double by winning 100 metres in 12.90 seconds. She also pocketed the long jump and discuss throw events out of the seven finals that were decided on the concluding day.

Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi, Dean Faculty of Science, who graced the occasion, gave away the prizes.

1-Punjab university (Shumaila, Asma, Madiha, Zunash) 56.80 seconds; 2-Karachi University (Sadaf, Khizra, Mehwish, Samreen) 59.96 seconds; 3-GCU Faisalabad (Naseem, Fakhra, Salma, Noveira) 1m 00.31 seconds.

100 metres:

1-Madiha Latif (Punjab University) 12.90 seconds; 2-Samreen (Karachi University) 14.30 seconds; 3-Naseem (GCU Faisalabad) 14.40 seconds.

400 metres:

1-Shumaila Sattar (Punjab University) 1m 09.47 seconds; 2-Zahra Murtaza (BZ MUltan) 1m 10.40 seconds; 3-Naseem (GCU Faisalabad) 1m 12.80 seconds.
