KARACHI, Feb 7: Thirty vehicles – 11 automobiles and 19 motorbikes – and 35 cellphones were taken away by the evening on Saturday in different parts of the city.

Officials at the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee told Dawn that four cars were snatched at gunpoint in the Defence, Aziz Bhatti, Korangi Industrial Area and New Karachi Industrial Area police limits.

They said at least seven other automobiles were stolen in the Frere, Sohrab Goth, Bahadurabad, New Town, Taimuria, Sharea Faisal and Al-Fallah police jurisdictions.

The officials said five motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint in the police limits of Saeedabad, Federal B Area, Gulberg, Taimuria and Shah Faisal Colony.

They said 14 other motorbikes were stolen in the police areas of Sukkun, Frere, New Town, Aziz Bhatti, Ferozabad, Zaman Town, Korangi Industrial Area, Nazimabad, Chakiwara, Garden and Risala.

The officials said 21 cellular phone handsets were snatched at gunpoint in the police limits of Azizabad, Korangi, Surjani Town, Garden, Gulberg, Nazimabad, Pakistan Bazaar, Rizvia, Saudabad and Shershah.

They said at least 21 cellular phones were stolen by Saturday evening in the police precincts of Clifton, Taimuria, Airport, Al-Fallah, Balida Town, Chakiwara, Defence, Gizri, Gulberg, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Jackson, Jamshed Quarters, Kharadar, Khokhrapar, Munia Town, New Karachi, Preedy, Saddar and Steel Town.

The officials said 44 vehicles – 15 cars and 29 motorbikes – and 66 cellular phones were taken away on Friday across the city. Of them, they said, four cars, five motorcycles and 26 mobile phones were snatched at gunpoint.
