Ishtiaq knocks Azeem out

KARACHI, Feb 7: Promising Azeem Yousuf, the second seed, was knocked out of the Sindh juniors’ cup snooker tournament when he went down straight to third seed Mohammad Ishtiaq in a mild upset semi-final at the Aly’s snooker parlour on Saturday.

Ishtiaq won the duel in convincing fashion 71-10, 67-32, 55-50 to cruise into Sunday’s final.

Top seed Agha Bilawal, meanwhile, continued his winning spree when he carved out 3-0 victory over unseeded Yasir Khan in the other pre-final. Agha also chalked up a half century break (56) in the second frame to register 86-30, 86-31, 78-50 victory over his opponent.

Yasir has reached the last four after upsetting fourth seed Ahsan Raza 3-1 the other day.

The best of seven frames final between Agha Bilawal and Mohammad Ishtiaq will be played on Sunday at 2.00pm.

Semi-finals: Agha Bilawal bt Yasir Khan 3-0 (86-30, 86-31, 78-50); Mohammad Ishtiaq bt Azeem Yousuf 3-0 (71-10, 67-32, 55-50).
