ISLAMABAD, Feb 17: The Iranian Ambassador Mashallah Shakri on Tuesday called on Federal Minister for Health Mir Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani and discussed matters pertaining to mutual cooperation in the health sector.
The Ambassador apprised the Minister that Iran would set up a Rehabilitation Centre in Pakistan to prepare artificial limbs for the disabled persons. Budget allocation for the centre has already been made.
He said that Iran would provide equipment for the Centre. Iran would run the centre for 10 years. He said that Iranian personnel would train the people in the centre.
He informed the Minister that Iran intends to upgrade the Prime Health Care Centers in Balochistan. He said that necessary medicines and funds would be provided by Iran for these centers.
He stressed the need for mutual cooperation between the two countries in the health sector and proposed that the health professionals of both countries should exchange visits aimed at identifying areas of cooperation between the two countries.
He extended invitation to Minister for Health of Pakistan to visit Iran which was accepted by the Minister. As agreed the Minister would visit Iran in March this year.
The Minister told the Ambassador that Iran has made great progress in the primary healthcare and Pakistan would like to take advantage of the experiences of Iran in this field.
It was agreed in the meeting that biological production division of NIH and Razi Institute and Pasteur Institute of Iran should cooperate with each other for enhancing quality of medicine.
