Snow stops Karzai visit

ISLAMABAD, Feb 19: Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s visit to Islamabad was postponed on Thursday because of heavy snowfall in Kabul.

“President of Afghanistan Mr Hamid Karzai was scheduled to pay an official visit to Pakistan today (Thursday), which has been postponed due to inclement weather in Kabul,” Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said.

Mr Karzai was scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

A new date for the visit would be announced later, the spokesman said.
