DUBAI, Feb 24: Bowlers with suspect actions will be invited to wear an electronic sensor during matches to determine whether they are throwing.
Cricket has tried several methods of trying to eliminate illegal actions — or chucking — from the game and relies on testing suspect deliveries in laboratory conditions away from the playing field.
Now the game’s world governing body is funding a study by Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia to test bowlers in match conditions. During the study, they will be asked to wear a sensor which will monitor their actions during delivery.—AP
