PESHAWAR, Aug 30: Pakistan People's Party (Sherpao) provincial president Sikandar Sherpao on Monday alleged that government was according priority to its favourites in the survey of the damaged and destroyed houses in flood-hit areas of the province. In a statement issued here, he feared if the government did not give compensation to the people in accord with their losses, people might rise against the rulers. Mr Sherpao claimed that despite passage of one month the flood victims were waiting for food and water, while the “rulers were least interested in solving their problems”.

The government, he said, was bound to compensate the affected people irrespective of political affiliations and demanded for immediate steps for their early rehabilitation.

He expressed concern over the declining economic conditions in the province and suggested that the government should devise effective strategy to boost it up.

Mr Sherpao demanded the government to expedite the compensation process as Eid-ul-Fitr was approaching near and people were in dire need of food and other items.
