By Ibrahim Shinwari LANDI KOTAL, Sept 15: Security forces arrested 25 suspected militants and took into their custody suicide jackets, huge quantity of explosives and some non-registered vehicles in Bara area of Khyber Agency on Wednesday.

Officials said that the arrests and seizure were made during a search operation in Shalobar area. They said that at least 20 non-registered vehicles used in subversive activities by militants had also been taken into custody. The arrested men also included some Afghan nationals, who had been residing in Bara since long.

Earlier, security forces arrested five drug dealers from Shalobar area and recovered from their custody 148 kilograms of contrabands. All the arrested men and seized items were later shifted to military camps in Bara and Jamrud. In Spin Qabar area of Bara, five security personnel received injuries when a military convoy was targeted with a remote controlled explosive device, planted at roadside. A vehicle was also damaged in the blast. The injured soldiers were shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Peshawar.

Also, in Spin Qabar area unidentified gunmen riding in a car kidnapped a young man, Zulfiqar, and later killed him. Reason behind the killing could not be ascertained nor has any body claimed responsibility for his killing.

The Khasadar force in Jamrud seized 120 bottles of imported liqour at Bhagyari checkpost. Officials said that the contrabands were recovered from the hidden cavities of a car coming from Peshawar.
