LAHORE, Nov 6: American Ambassador Cameron Muntar on Saturday assured full cooperation to Pakistan in its fight against terrorism and overcoming other problems.

He was talking to Governor Salmaan Taseer whom he met at the Governor's House. Mr Muntar was accompanied by his wife Marilyn Wyati.

Mr Muntar said America supported democracy in Pakistan and always wanted it to be a peaceful country.

Earlier, the governor said Pakistan was facing the worst kind of terrorism and those indulged in it wanted to destabilise the country and had nothing to do with Islam. He said the Pakistani army was bravely fighting militants.

He said the strategic dialogue between Pakistan and America would further improve relations between them. He thanked the US government for providing assistance for flood-affected areas and people.

He said presently Pakistan was having a strong democratic system where existed a friendly opposition, independent judiciary and media.
