LAHORE: Pakistan went down 2-0 against Oman after putting up a brave fight in their third and final match of Group F in 16th Asian Games football at Guangdong People's Stadium, China.

Pakistan matched Oman on shots of goal with both the teams getting nine each against two keepers Jaffar Khan and Al Zaabi. But Jaffar failed to parry two of them as Oman struck once in each half to win 2-0.

Ali Gheilani opened the deadlock in the tenth minute as Oman led 1-0 at half time and Waleed Abdallah completed the 2-0 scoreline in the 65th minute.

Vietnam's Referee Vo booked five Pakistani players as compared to Oman's three in the match. Aurangzeb, Kalim Ullah, Atif Bashir, Yasir Afridi, Muhammad Ahmed of Pakistan and  Al Shatri, Mohamed Saleh, Basim Al Rajaibi of Oman were booked.

In Group D India beat   Singapore 4-1 at Huadu Stadium and Qatar managed a 2-0 win over Kuwait at Yingdong Stadium.

Group E saw Uzbekistan suffering 3-0 defeat at the hands of UAE at Yingdong Stadium and Hong Kong thrashed Bangladesh 4-1 at Huadu Stadium.

In Group F Pakistan lost 0-2 against Oman at Guangdong People's Stadium while Thailand were held by Maldives in a goalless draw at Huangpu Sports Center.
