KARACHI: Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) on Tuesday announced a gold medal and Rs100,000 cash prize along with a scholarship for the remaining education of national hockey team player Abdul Haseem Khan.

Khan was part of the gold-medal-winning Pakistan team at the recently concluded 16th Asian Games in China and the honour by SSUET is timely recognition for a promising forward who has already become an integral part of the national team.

The 20-year-old Khan made headlines with his scintillating performance at the Asia Cup in Malaysia in 2009
