ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Religious Affairs, investigating the Haj corruption allegations, barred Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi from hiring Latif Khan Khosa to represent him in the Supreme Court.

The committee told the minister to have the Attorney General represent him in court.

The committee also quizzed officials of the Religious Affairs Ministry with regard to the irregularities’ allegations in the Haj operations.

Moreover, the committee recommended that it should be consulted for the 2011 Haj policy.

Meanwhile, a court handed over Joint Secretary of Religious Affairs Minister Raja Aftab to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a three-day-long physical remand.

Speaking to media representatives, Aftab denied involvement in the alleged corruption.
