Pakistani girls claim setting record

KARACHI, Dec 15: A group of 19 girl students from some schools in Karachi claimed to have set a Guinness world record on Wednesday by accommodating themselves in a standard smart car.

The event took place at DHA Creek Club in the presence of a jury and was reported worldwide. Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro was chief guest.

The group led by Aymen Saleem Yousuf squeezed into the smart car to break the record set by the Climb Fit Team of Australia when 18 students had compressed into a standard smart car in Sydney on Jan 25, 2010.

The jury comprised Mr Khuhro, adviser to prime minister Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, adviser to Sindh chief minister on information Sharmila Farooqui, former cricket captain Waseem Akram, former hockey captain Islahuddin and Ishtiaq Baig, honorary consul general of Morocco.—APP
