LAHORE, Dec 24: A girl and a boy suffered minor injuries when their cars fell into the Lahore Canal near Mughalpura Underpass on Friday.

Locals reached the scene immediately and rescued Muhammad Amir, a resident of Garhi Shahu, and Mahrukh, a resident of Mughalpura. Rescue 1122 and police also reached the scene.

According to a police official, Mahrukh said Amir was driving his car rashly and hit her vehicle from behind in an attempt to overtake her from left side in violation of traffic rules. Resultantly, she lost control and her vehicle fell into the canal, the police official said.

Amir said another car being driven by a middle-aged man hit his vehicle from behind and this caused the chain accident.

Amir was taken to Shalimar Hospital. Later, police took him into custody on Mahrukh’s complaint and registered a case against him.
