DHAKA: All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been retained as Bangladesh captain for next year's 50 overs World Cup, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Friday.

Shakib led Bangladesh to a 4-0 series sweep against New Zealand on home soil in October after regular captain Mashrafee Bin Mortaza was injured in the first match.

Opener Tamim Iqbal was named as vice-captain.
