ISLAMABAD: Leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan Muslim League - Quaid (PML-Q) on Monday stated that the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N), in order to save its government in Punjab, was quietly supporting the government by claiming to stay neutral in the current political situation.
However, the PML-N's Ahsan Iqbal said that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was free to quit the government in Punjab.
Iqbal further said that the PML-N would not become a part of any kind of political game playing.
Speaking to media representatives, JUI-F leader Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said that it would have been better if Prime Minister Gilani had resigned earlier.
He further said that the JUI-F's demand for the prime minister's resignation was not unfounded.
"The prime minister no longer commands majority in the National Assembly and the Senate," he said.
Meanwhile, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that he would make a decision "after consulting with the party".
