DHA clarification

Published January 5, 2011

THIS is apropos of the letter ‘Residents refute DHA version’ (Dec 31) by Honorary Secretary of Association of Defence Residents. The writer has interpreted the interim order of the Sindh High Court in a sub judice case pertaining to recovery of refurbishment charges by the DHA from its residents.

It is once again reiterated that the honourable court in none of its orders has ever restrained the DHA from collecting refurbishment charges. The court has only directed the DHA not to use physical force against residents for recovery of the said charges.

If the writer is sure of his contention, he is welcome to get the copy of the stay order published in the newspaper so that all readers can ascertain the veracity of the same.

The writer has, in fact, created a false alarm among the residents and misled them. In fact, any comment on a sub judice case is superfluous and tantamount to contempt of court.

The DHA reserves the right to legally sue the writer for making false statements, misleading the public and damaging the credibility of the organisation. The DHA is the largest, most prestigious and most sought-after residential estate of the country. Any attempt to damage its reputation, credibility and trust and that too by its own resident is simply baffling.

It is no good for any self-proclaimed champion of residents to misguide and mislead simple residents for vested interest. You may befool the people once or twice but not always.
