CHAKWAL, Jan 6: The education department has taken notice of the state of affairs at the Government Postgraduate College here and asked its principal to submit a report within one week.

Sources said Assistant Director Colleges Prof Liaquat Ali and other officials of the department directed the principal to resolve the college issues on a priority basis. The action was taken after a report published in this newspaper on December 26.

The sources also said Principal Dr Sajjad had warned the teachers to take classes regularly. Students said Prof Akram Faizi and Prof Nasir Zaidi have started taking classes regularly. They said Prof Faizi had also started to teach them in extra time to complete the course.

The principal also directed the lecturers to submit the attendance report to him on a daily basis.

The principal asked the students to submit articles for the defunct magazine 'Shamsheer' and appointed Prof Sada Hussain as the editor of the English section and Prof Arshad Mehmood as editor of the Urdu section.
