RAWALPINDI, Jan 6: A large number of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) activists held Qul for slain Punjab Governor Salman Taseer on Thursday at Liaquat Bagh, and expressed resolve not to surrender to religious fanaticism.

PPP Rawalpindi chapter President Raja Shaukat Abbasi, member PPP Central Executive Committee (CEC) Qazi Sultan Mehmood, PPP City President Amir Fida Paracha and hundreds of workers attended the Qul.The PPP leaders said workers would continue agitation until the completion of probe into the murder of Governor Taseer

Mr Abbasi declared the PML-N a 'security risk' in the province, asserting that the religious fanaticism that led to murder of governor had been ignited by provincial ministers in the Punjab government. “The PML-N must condemn the tragedy in clear words and should apologise to the nation for fuelling religious sentiments against Salman Taseer,” he said. “Everybody in the country is free to express his or her views about any issue. We will continue to express our point of view and never surrender to extremists,” he vowed. —Our Reporter
