MIRAMSHAH, Jan 7: Five suspected militants were killed when a US drone targeted a residential compound and a car in Dattakhel tehsil of North Waziristan on Friday.

The names of those killed in the strike at Ghar Laley village could not be ascertained. Four missiles were fired during the attack, AFP quoted a local security official as saying.

“So far five bodies have been recovered,” he said, adding “Taliban have surrounded the area and there are fears the toll may go up.”

The area is considered a stronghold of Taliban ‘commander’ Hafiz Gul Bahadur.?
