CALCUTTA: At least 10 people returning from a picnic died when the minibus they were travelling in collided with a speeding truck in east India, police said.

Police official Narayan Mazumdar said the truck crashed headlong into the bus in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.

He said Monday that at least 25 people were injured in Sunday's accident.

Most of the dead and injured were young people returning from a picnic at a popular river resort in northern West Bengal.
