ISLAMABAD, Jan 12: A 24-year-old man allegedly shot dead his 60-year-old wife in Tarnol area on Wednesday, police said.

It was not known if the age difference was the motive behind the killing of Miraj Bibi, a brick kiln worker.

Her neighbours said they heard two shots going off in her house at dusk and rushed there to see her lying in a pool of blood and a man fleeing from the house. They rushed her to a hospital but she succumbed to her gunshot wounds.

Police removed her body to the mortuary, pending the legal process.

According to the police the woman was shot in her head and chest.

An eyewitness told the police that the man seen fleeing from the house was her husband. She had married him four years ago.

Meanwhile, a girl and boy were killed in separate road accidents in the capital.

In the first incident Roma Bibi, 3, suffered multiple injuries when a car hit her at China Chowk while she was crossing the road. The injured was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In another incident, a five-year-old boy was injured after being hit by a speeding vehicle at Sohan.

He was shifted to the hospital where he breathed his last.

The victim was identified as Allahyar.
