ISLAMABAD, Jan 30: Two very important developments that will shape the future of fashion in Pakistan and place it on the world fashion map took place on the last day of Islamabad Fashion Week when World Fashion Organisation's Paco De Jaimes announced the formal signing of Triple-E Events as the Pakistan national chapter and all that privileges that it entails which include promoting Pakistani designers abroad from the WFO platform.

The second important announcement was the formation of the Pakistan Fashion Council with Tariq Amin as its chief operating officer.

Earlier, Malaysian designer Sharifah Kirana Syed Ghazali opened Day Four with a vibrant display of slit skirts accentuated by traditional turbans and locally-produced hand-woven fabric offset by embellishments. The designer also incorporated Pakistani fabric into her creations which she had acquired during an earlier trip to the country to participate in Karachi Fashion Week. She said she was eager to stock in Pakistan and would enter into negotiations with prospective clients.

Next to show was Fnk Asia's Huma Amir Adnan with an improvised line comprising peasant skirts and feathered tops with embroidered necklines. The fabric of choice was cotton and the tight pajamas comprised tiers or layers which was repeated on the shirts as well.

Speaking after the show, a jubilant Huma revealed that the collection already a big sellout in India and the Gulf region and was largely influenced by Kashmiri and Pukhtoon cultures.

Next in line was Karachi-based Sanam Agha, a grad of the London School of Fashion, who used ethnic woven fabric and traditional susi cloth to add a lot of colour and vibrancy to her creative ensembles. Finally, Beenish Sultan of BNS showed a collection that was retro and chic.

PIA Managing Director Capt Ejaz Haroon said they would hold a fashion show in which all current and upcoming designers would participate to prepare the uniform for airhostesses of the airliner. He said the selected uniform design would be adopted for the airhostesses and the contract would be awarded to the winning designer.

Nilofer Shahid's life-time works were displayed by models and over 1,200 people attended the event. The International Fashion Week in Islamabad crossed its business target and it was as successful as the shows held in Lahore and Karachi.

IFW ended on a positive note for many, especially the Islamabad crowd to witness a premier fashion event. Tariq Amin also thanked the people of Islamabad who made a success of the event and hoped the tradition would continue.
