PESHAWAR, Feb 11: Rallies were taken out in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday demanding public execution of the US citizen involved in the killing of two Pakistanis.

In Peshawar, hundreds of people led by Jamaat-i-Islami leaders took out a procession from Masjid Mahabat Khan and converged at Chowk Yadgar where speakers demanded award of capital punishment to the US national Raymond Davis.

The procession was led by former MNA and JI provincial general secretary Shabir Ahmed Khan, Peshawar amir Bahrullah Khan and information secretary Israrullah Khan advocate.

The people were holding placards and banners inscribed with demands for awarding punishment to the US citizen and compensation to the affected families. The protesters also shouted anti-US slogans.

The JI leaders said if the government released the accused the people across the country would come to the streets and force the rulers to step down, adding, the accused was simply a killer and deserved no immunity.

“We have time and again said that the American agents “Blackwater” is active in our country and involved in the terrorists acts but the rulers always defended them to appease the US,” they said.

MANSEHRA: People in Balakot also took out a procession calling for public execution of the US national Raymond Davis.

The rally started from Madni plaza and culminated at the shrine of Syed Ahmad Shaheed after marching through various routes.

Speaking on the occasion amir of JI Balakot Mushtaq Lughmani, general secretary Fazalur Rehman and others said that Raymond Davis should be hanged at the square where he had shot dead the two Pakistanis.

The participants threatened that if the government granted immunity to Davis, the people would topple the government.

KARAK: Jamaat-i-Islami demanded trial of Raymond Davis in Pakistani courts and asked the government to stop the activities of US agents in the country.

This was demanded by JI central vice president Dr Kamal, provincial president Prof Ibrahim and district president Maulana Tasleem Iqbal while addressing a protest rally on Friday.

The rally started from Peer Odeen Shah mosque and terminated at Saddam Chowk where it turned into a public meeting.

LAKKI MARWAT: Jamat-i-Islami took out a rally in Naurang town on Friday to protest against the US pressure on Pakistani government in the Raymond Davis case.

The protesters led by JI's district amir Malik Meer Shah took out a procession from Jamia Mosque Juma Khan in Naurang city and turned into a gathering near Lorry adda after passing through different bazaars.

They carried party flags, banners and placards inscribed with slogans demanding death penalty for the US citizen.

The JI leaders said Raymond Davis took law into his hands by killing two youths in Lahore hence he should be awarded death sentence according to the law of the land.
