ISLAMABAD: Two suspicious packages were found on Thursday near a building housing military supplies in Rawalpindi, police and military officials said.

A plot to bomb sensitive offices on Mareer Chowk Rawalpindi, where the military headquarters is located, was foiled and the area had been sealed off, a Pakistani television station said.

Pakistani Taliban militants are pressing on with a bombing campaign designed to destabilise the US-backed government, despite series of army crackdowns on their strongholds. – Reuters
