KARACHI, Feb 17: Six ships carrying containers and to load wheat, ethanol and clinkers are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where 8 ships including a wheat loader Captain-T, three tankers, two with general cargo and three container vessels were berthed during the last two days.

Sailings on the other hand were fairly brisk as over a dozen ships departed during the last two days, notable among them being, Hyundai Oakland, APL Pearl, Unico Anna, Kota Akbar, James River Bridge, Ocean Promoter, Thana Bhum, Courageous Ace, Patriotic, Hua Tuo, Bunga Raya Empat and CSL Ride.

Five others, Abadeh, Union Helen, Lavender, Thuringia Express and STX Patraikos are due to sail out on Friday after loading export consignments.

A total volume of 0.196m tons comprising 70,992 tons of export cargo, including 8,500 tons of wheat and 0.125m tons of import tonnage was handled during the last two days.

The following ships are due on Friday: Katherine, to load 25,000 tons of wheat, Medi Shanghai, to load 43,000 tons of clinkers, Chemway Gaia, to load 10,000 tons of ethanol, Y M Asia, APL Sharjah and Courier, with containers.
