PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Science and Technology is providing research grant to students, faculty and researchers in the field of engineering, agriculture, chemical sciences and other related fields.

The research grant which would amount of Rs.1 million would be extended for various pilot research projects, designing of facilitation and training centre and promotion and support of R&D efforts in public and private sector says, Director DoST Sajid. S.  Hasan at a one day conference on research proposals and Academia Industry linkages in KP.

He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the first province with a full-fledged directorate of science and Technology is operational and we are going all out to bring academia, industry linkages and resultantly promote science and technology.

The director added that his organization would accept research proposal which are to benefit the country and its industry.

Director P&D, University of Peshawar said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa industries are in a very bad shape and most of the industrial units are closed.

He said that apart from the fact that our Province is affected by Terrorism; the closing down of the industries is because of lack of proper Research and Development activities and infrastructure.

Most of the time the industrialists don't even cooperate with the scientists for carrying out a research on their company products which he said is a dilemma.

Dr. Shafiq said that his department would appreciate any step taken to bring closer linkages between Universities which are research institutions and industry where researches can be transformed into tangible products for the benefit of the community.
